San Luiso Bispo suffered the greatest oil fire in the history of the industry. The loss is £4,000,000. WHOLE FIELD THREATENED. FOUR TANKS NOW BURNING. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received April 8, 5.5 p.m.) VANCOUVER, April 7. A message from San Luiso Bispo (California) states that the latest estimate of the loss from the fire in the Union Oil Company’s fields which broke out here to-day, is 10,000,000 dollars. The fire started when lightning struck a huge underground concrete tank. Four tanks are noiv burning, making probably the largest conflagration experienced in the history of the United States oil fields. If the barricades being built fail to check the spread of the flaming liquid, the Company's officials consider nothing can save the remaining tanks.
