The annual camp in connection with tho Baptist Young Men’s Bible Classes is being held, at Temuka, the weather being all- that could be desired, and the men, who aro having a most enjoyable time, speak in the most glowing terms of tho building which have been placed at then- disposal, and of the beauty of the domain. Tlie young men present came from practically every town from Invercargill to Christchurch, and there are also a few from the North Island. They will break camp to-day. The Rev. K. G. Goring, of Timaru, : has charge of tho camp, and there are also present, the president, Rev. Stuart, of Christchurch, and the secretary, Mr G. E. McKessar, of Christchurch. This meeting of young men is held in a different centre annually, and mental and physical contests are held to the great advantage of the participants. On Friday morning a cricket match was played on the oval between Otago and Canterbury, at which tho southern team defeated their opponents in an unmistakable itranner. At night, however, the position was reversed, _ for Canterbury carried off all the honours at the speech-making contests. The Mayor, Mr G." B. Cartwright,- was the guest of the visitors at the function, and extended to them a very hearty welcome to Temuka. Ho wished them a very pleasant time during their sojourn hero, and hoped they would thoroughly enjoy themselves. The speeches were greatly enjoyed by those 1 present, Mr AV. Flett- winning the junior sermonettc, and Mr S. T. Barnett the senior sermonette- and impromptu speech. The subject for ,the latter was “If I Were Mayor , of Temuka,” and liis wins carry' prizes of a gold medal and a cup, whilst Mr Flett is rewarded with a cup.
