APPALLING PEN SWISHING.

Criticism of the Critic?. INK SLINGING CLAPTRAP RESENTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. •■Tho Times.” (Received April 5, 7 p.m.) LONDON, April 4. The appalling pen-swishing from the advance guard of the Australian writers, prompted George Brawn to write a. letter lamenting that tRo Australians who hitherto arrived without boosting and self-advertisement and boat us off their own bat, should ho associated with such a display. If cricket is to bo turned into a species of circus why not appoint a master of ceremonies, who armed with a megaphone, announces the name, family history, and deeds of daring as each player steps in the Lords arena. A continuance of this ink-slinging claptrap will nauseate lovers of cricket who will wish that the word test had never been coined. MORE EXPERT OPINION. ARTICLE BY DOUGLAS. Bv Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z„ Cable Association LONDON, April 4. J. W. H. T. Douglas, who visitel Australia last year, in an article in the “Sunday Express,” entitled “Australia’s Mystery Man,” says lie cannot understand the omission of Kelleway. Apart from the sphering influence among forcing batsmen for a few overs with a new ball, he is one of the most likely to get a wicket. “Richardson may, in my opinion, develop into the greatest howler visiting us. He keeps a marvellous length, gathers pace from the pitch, and turns the ball from the off. He is just the type to develop on English wickets, and might even 'have been chosen in the 1921 team. I should not be surprised if he gets a large bag of wickets.”
