SATURDAY'S OPENING GAME. The Timaru Football League opened the season on Saturday, at 1 Creek, the attendance being about ow. Tho Svdenham team lrom Christchurch came down to assist in the opening, and gave a good exposition ol the game against the Timaru team. Though the local side were beaten, they gave a good account of themselves, and with a little more training they would have made the score more even. Tries wens- etpred lor inm, b> F. Tonkin (2), S. Chgg 2), 1.0 Connor (3), Davis (1), McAlister (1;, and Dvmond converted two. For Timaru tries were scored by • Devine (1), Robertson (1) ami Rowlands (1), none being converted. Mr T.
