CABINET VACANCIES.
READJUSTMENTS NECESSARY.
By Telegraph—Press .Association. WELLINGTON, April 4. The “Post” says it is not expected that further announcements regarding the filling of Cabinet vacancies will be made for two or three weeks. Arrangements are now being made for the Hon. AV. Nosworthy to hand over the portfolio of Finance to the Hon. AV. Downie Stewart, who at present bolds tiro Attorney Generalship. ’The Hon. Downie Stewart took over this office from Sir Francis Bell in January. Sir James Tarr will retain Education and tlie Postmaster Generalship for another fortnight or so. Until Sir James Parr and tho Hon. AV. Noswortliy relinquish their portfolios nothing is likely to be done in the way of Cabinet readjustment. The Hon. A\ r . Nosworthy holds' the portfolio of Immigration, but so far nothing has been indicated as to where that will finally rest. In view of the recently announced increase in tlm number of immigrants who are to lie received into tho Dominion annually, an-1 the general insistence at Home that more must ho done in the matter of Empire migration, the portfolio of Immigration lias now assumed some importance. The portfolio, which will have to be allotted following on the departure of Sir Francis 8011, is External Affairs. The leadership of the Legislative Council is now vacant, and a successor to Sir "Francis Bell in that position will probably be announced at au early date.
