IMPROVED METHODS.
CAR PAINTING PAR EXCELLENCE Increased production is a question that is engaging the, attention of the promoters of every industry in the world to-day, with the result that during recent years modern and improved methods in almost every branch of industry have been installed, thus facilitating increased and better production Latest among these modern devices is tho paint gun, winch has now been patented and perfected, and promises to fill a. long-felt want in motor-car production, both from point of view of speed and efficiency. With the introduction of this new method a, correspondingly improved quality of.jiiiint has been placed on the market, and cars painted and finished with the “Duco Lacquer” finish arc a striking tribute to tlie advanced methods of ear painting. This new p'aut, consisting of paint, gun, compressed air device, and a eomplcto stock of new paints - , has been installed by AJossrs Ferguson and Company, motor body builders and car painters, Barnard Street, and seen in use by a “Herald” representative, it was duly demonstrated as file last word in car painting. Once file surface has been prepared to take the paint, the paint gun is connected with the compressed air system, by which means tlie paint is put on quickly and 1 effectively, entirely eliminating brush marks and other blemishes. A further important feature is that each coat will dry in about ten to fifteen minutes, when subsequent coats can immediately be applied, and the ear is turned out in a manner to give better service with a finished lasting appearance. When the car has been given the final coat ,a highly polished surface is obtained by tho use of ear polish, which later can be, applied by tho owner from time to time, thereby ensuring tho continuance of the original brilliant finish. The paint used in the new process is fast drying, and of lasting qualities, and when applied, the bugbear of the motorists to-day is entirely eliminated, as the finished surface is immune from scratches of every description, and has the polished appearance of hard enamel.
Tho first car to be turned out by Messrs Ferguson arid Co. was a 30seater limousine, tho body of which was built by the firm on a specially constructed Alinorva chassis. Tho quality of Ferguson’s body building work is well-known throughout New Zealand, and this latter order has como from as far afiokl as Christchurch. Tho limousine was designed and built for Air W. Day, and will take up the running ot the Soutlibridgo service. Introducing the new painting system, the body was durably finished in fawn, with maroon band and sedan brown top. This latest car painting method has been universally adopted throughout America, a.nd lias found favour in all the leading English motor-car and painting factories. Anyono desirous of seeing the new system in operation can do so daily at Ferguson and Company’s, motor body builders and car painting works, Barnard Street, opposite the Cecil ’Wood Company, when the proprietor (Air A. G. Knowles) will be pleased to give a demonstration to all interested.
