FOOTBALL.
To-day at the League Grounds, Saltwater Creek, the people of Timaru will be afforded an opportunity of witnessing the opening game of Rugby League for the coming season. Sydenham Club, who are well known in Canterbury as League players, will meet a local team, who are no mean exponents of the code. Those who make the journey to the grounds may rest assured of witnessing a clean, fast, open game. All local players are requested to meet at the Royal Hotel not later than 2 p.m.
