LABOUR PARTY SPLIT.
Bitter Fight In Australia. CLASH OF RIVAL FACTIONS. Bf Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 31, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 31. A bitter fight is promised at the forthcoming Australian Labour Party Annual Conference. ' ’ A wide split has developed between the leadens of the Australian Labour Party and the Australian "Workers’ "Union. The latter, which is making a determined attempt to gain control of the conference, has issued a manifesto containing a southing' attack upon the faction which allegedly controls the Australian .Labour Party Executive. This declares that the chief executive positions of the Australian Labour Party are in possession of an unscrupulous gang of usurpers, who are resorting to every description of dirty tricks and swindles in order to secure themselves in power. The manifesto elaborates theso charges, quoting many alleged instances in support of them. It appeals to all Labourites, who honour their faith, to" purge the Labour Party from the elements which Jiave dragged the fair name of the Labour Movement in the gutter of contempt. *
Following this, an indignation meeting of representatives of all city branches of the Australian Labour Party was held, and at it allegations of irregular methods were freely made against members of the executive of the ruling faction.
