LONDON WOOL SALES. The Department of Agriculture has received the following advice from the High Commissioner, " London, under date March 37th — Wool. —Sales closed Thursday with firm tone. Offerings totalled 142,50 j) bales, of which 119,000 were sold to the Continent; Homo trade, 48,000; America, 5000. Competition was more widely distributed than during previous Berios, and more confidence was shown in prices at the close. Compared with last series rates, merino and fine crossbred were 5 per cent, higher; nudiiim and coarse crossbred, par. Average closing rates were : 60 to 64's (merino), Is Od to 2s; 00’s (super halfbred), Is 6|d to Is 9(1; 48 to 50’s (fine crossbred), Is 4d to Is 5d- 44 te 40’s (medium), Is 2£d to Is 3£d; 36 to 40’s (coarse crossbred), Is ']£(! to Is 2£d. GRAIN AND SEED MARKETS. I-lIGH PRICE FOR ONIONS. By Telegraph—Pr*3.ss .Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 30. The produce market shows little movement towards briskness. All classes of seeds are dull, and potatoes for the time being are creating little business. Perennial ryegrass is now quoted at 5/9 f.0.b., s.i., Bluff for 27-2Slb seed, the equivalent of 4/- on trucks at Canterbury stations. Italian is quoted at 4/G to 4/0, or 3/- on trucks. Cocksfoot is unchanged, as is cowgrass. White clover is quoted at Od to lid on trucks. A heavy crop is assured. Oats are without movement, and from 3/9 to 4/- on trucks covers the price of Gartons. Partridge peas have slackened in value now that March shipments have been completed. Values have come back to about 6/- on trucks. Linseed is weak, and £l6 f.0.b., s.i. is quoted. Potatoes are not so much in the picture as they were. Doubtless the Australian' operators want to see some of their purchases before making further commitments. It is understood .that a special Sydney boat will sail direct about April 20th, and until then, unless the Sydney market soars to great heights, it may be expected that further orders will be curtailed. Prices on. trucks are from £5 10s to £5 15s.

Although there were fairly free sales of wheat for a week or two- at the millers’ prices, there is now very little passing. Growers generally are holding tor something near 7/a bushel.

Values on trucks for onions have advanced to £l3 a ton, the highest figure cut of the paddock for many years. North and South buyers, also Australian, are enquiring. The crop is coming in gradually this season, enabling growers to deliver according to market demands, and therefore maintaining prices.
