Mr W. H. Woodward, Chief Judge of Samoa, and Mrs Woodward, arrived by the Tol’ua on a visit to Now Zealand. They will spend about four months in the Dominion.

Mr and Mrs C. H. Gresson and Mr Pat. Gresson, Selwyn Street, will leave on Friday on a visit to Mr and Mrs Maurice O’Rourke, North Canterbury. Mr and Mrs W. K. Macdonald, Misses Macdonald, and Mr W. Macdonald are spending a week at Cadogan, Sefton Street. They will leave shortly for Auckland to Join the s.s. Aorangi, en route for Home.
Last Thursday evening a surprise party visited the residence of Mr r.nd Mrs Black, Glen-iti, for tbo purpo.su of honouring Miss AA T innie Black, whose marriage takes place shortly. During the evening, Mr Bone, on behalf cf the young people of the district, presented Miss Black with a nnndsome Lsilver tea service, and expressed the wish that her future life may be long and happy. Games and dancing were enjoyed until the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a very pleasant evening to a close. A very enjoyable kitchen evening was given to Miss Geanev by Airs R. AA r alker, at her residence Hereford Street, on Saturday evening. Miss Geane.v, who is to be married on Easter Monday, was the recipient of many useful presents, which were presented by Air R. Walker. Air AY. Burning suitably responded on behalf of Alias Geanev. A good musical programme was supplied by Airs Doherty (piano), assisted by Alcssrs Johnston, Ditchfield .and Sherry’s' string band.
