YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH.
MAN CHARGED WITH KILLING. By Tolaerauh—Pros* Anso.-iation CHRISTCHURCH. .March .30. As the result of the death of the jouug woman Jessie Wilson, ao-ed ‘M ni a blacksmith’s shop on .the evening or March 12th, Ernest. Abraham Hull -Archer, aged 53, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Mr H. A. Young, S.M., with Killing a human being, Jessie Wilson, by an ulawful act..
The adjourned inquest on the death “of Miss Wilson was 'continued in conjunction with tile proceedings, the Coroner finding that deceased had died L orn heart failure due to - embolism, air having been forced into the body of deceased for an unlawful purpose. Dr. A. J. Orchard said that on March 12 Archer had called iiim bv telephone at about 11 p.m., and told him that a, young woman bad collapsed in bis ishop in Bath Street. Witness had gone to the shop, and found a. young woman lying dead. He had sec-i accused, who was very concerned. AVitness had told accused that the young woman, was dead, and that there was nothing for him to do hut inform the authorities. .' Accused had said; “My God!” He had appeared very distressed.
The police evidence stated accused’s clh.ce and shop had been searched for instruments, but none were found. Air Thomas, for accused, .submitted that there _ was not the slightest evidence against accused. Archer was committed for trial,, hail being, refused.
