FOOTBALL.
WAMI CLUB. The annual meeting of the Wnilii Football Club was bold on Saturday evening. The president (Mr T. Harrison) presided over a largo attendance. Mr T. H. Langford (lion., secretary), presented the annual report and baianco sheet. The credit balance was shown at £2l 14s Ski.
The report stated that the season was not a prosperous oiie as l'ar as tho club was concerned. After considerable difficulty a senior team was entered for tho competition, and although filling all obligations, met with little success. Fr< ;m a financial point ,of view, the position was also far from, satisfactory, and the committee trusted that members would pay their dues more promptly during the coming season. Had it not been for the generosity of the club’s supporters, the credit balance would have been a very small one. To those gentlemen they tendered thanks. 'Thanks were also duo to all those who had gratuitously acted as gatekeepers during tho past season; to Mr H. A. I’hilp, caretaker of the training shed; and to all those who had lent their cars to convey the players to tho matches. Tho committee trusted that tho coming season would be more successful, and that players would pay more attention to training. On tho motion of Alessrs T. Harrison and J. C. South, the report and balance sheet was adopted. The following officials were elected: —Patron, Mr H. E. Smith; president, Mr J. C. South; vice-presidents, Messrs J. L. Bennett, J. Chisholm, W. Quirko senr., 1). Stewart, F. Harrison, G. Burborougli, 0. L. Austin, J. Guerin, and J. De Rcnz.v; hon. secretary, Mr S. Priest; treasurer, Mr G. Sheldon; delegates to the South Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs'J. C. South and T. H. Langford; auditor, Air 1). Wall; committee, Messrs L. Wood, W. Quirko, V.- Robertson, 14. W. Stewart, W. Mcßride, A. H. Opio, 14. W. Agnow; selector, Mr A. 13. Scott; social committee, Messrs L. Wood, G. Sheldon and S. Priest.
iW opening day was left to the committee to. arrange. The president, Mr South, advised the pi avers* to 1 stick to their training and try’ to emulate the Wnihi teams of 25 years ago. The president said that after such an enthusiastic meeting, and with the support of the players available, the club should have a most successful season. Air C. A. Opio spoke in eulogistic terms of the work that the past president. (Mr Harrison) and secretary (Air Langford) had done during tlie past season. Both gentlemen, in returning thanks, said their services would again bo at tho club’s disposal, and they wished tlie club every success. On the motion of Alessrs C. Opie and A. Bain, a vote of thanks was accorded to the Press.
