SALE OF GAS.
BY VALUE INSTEAD OF VOLUME. By Tolo^rnph—Pres* A »BOoiat!oa. WELLINGTON, March 26. -Power to compel gas companies to sell gas by standard heating value, instead of by volume, as at present, is taken by tile Government in amending regulations just gazetted. Under these icgulntions the Minister of Industries and Commerce may from time to time by order in "writing, require any gas company to declare tlie calorific value of gas which it intends to supply, provided any company may alter the declared calorific value of 'its gas by giving the Minister three months' notice in writing of its intention to make such alteration. The cost of administering the regulations is to he- met hy requiring every gas company to pay a levy of 12s (id lor each 1,000,000 cubic feet of gas sold.
