Taking exception to recent assertions that Canada was favouring alien and not British Immigration, the Department. of Immigration and Colonisation has issued a statement, which says: “It was never true that overseas alien immigration equalled British immigratioh. The States o! Canada for years past, secured more immigi ants Irom Britain, with one •possible exception, than Australia, and usually more than Australia. South Africa and Now Zealand-combined. Further than this. Australia gets comparatively few immigrants from Britain, except those whose passages ai'e paid, wholly or in part.”
