A romantic suit, involving £25,000 deposited in a London Bank, in 1906, by Air Cabrera, ITesideiil, of Guatemala, who after the revolution, died m .prison, has cominenecd. The Guatemalan Government claims the money, dcc.ai'ing that Air Cabrera acted on behalf of the Republic. Air Cabrera’s son, Estrad, is the defendant, and asserts that the Government’s claim is based on documents his father signed in prison under threats of death. Counsel said he did not wish to endanger international rotations, hut plaintiff could not be trusted an inch. 'When Estrad wont to Guatemala to his father’s funeral he was arrested with a view to ending the dispute, but escaped. , Tlie judge declined to appoint a commission to take evidence in Guatemala, and adjourned tlie hearing till .May 4, to enable witnesses to lie brought to England.
