THE GERALDINE BAND.

To tlio Kdilor of the “Timarii Tlerald.” Sir, —Kindly' allow me .space in your columns to express my opinion on the Geraldine District hand. I have had many years' experience with bands, mid " have never seen one make such i rapid progress as the Geraldine Hand has made in the last six mouths. Although I have never been a member of the "Geraldine Hand, I have always hi on a keen observer, ami have seen tiie maiiv iip-liill lights they'have, hud, rpd must, through your paper, give them credit for the great progress they have made. On Sunday evening last 1 attended it sacred concert given by the Hand in the Municipal Theatre, i and, in my opinion, it was the best concert vet given in tbe new theatre. The heavy programme, awl the fine tone produced from the old, leaky, and battered instruments goes to prove that the Band is well under tbe control of its conductor, and I am sure that, if the Band were to run more Sunday night concerts, they would be greatly appreciated. This is evident from the applause which is accorded each item given on Sunday evenings. ,1 believe the Band is working very bard to try and place tlieir rpieen on top at the ( forthcoming queen carnival, and I am . sure that the public of Geraldine,

when supporting the .Band queen, are, like myself, fully convinced that it is essential to have a band in thq town. It is my opinion that if the Band keeps progressing as at present, ivc would ail approve of tlio help given-towards the new set of instruments. "Wishing tlio Band success.—f am etc., KEEN OBSERVER.
