WEDDING.

O’CONNELL—SHAIN. At the Catholic Cathedral, .Christchurch. the marriage was quietly solemnised of Mildred May, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs W. A. Shain (Nelson), and Leonard J. O’Connell, barrister (Timaru). The Rev. Father O’Regan celebrated the Nuptial Mass and also performed the marriage rites. Miss Minnie Ward was organist, and Mrs P. J. Dunne, who wore black crcpo de chine, embroidered in white, and hat on suite, gave the bride away. Miss Shain wore a model frock of ivory georgette, with short sleeves, inset in a long, straight bodice of pin-tucked georgette, the yoke and front being handsomely embroidered in autumn-tinted silk. The lower part of the dress was divided into four panels, also embroidered, and falling over an underskirt cf knife-pleated georgette. With this was worn'a- large hat of brown satin, lined with -panne velvet to match, cream silk stockings and brown satin shoes. A bouquet of crimson-tinted autumn leaves completed an artistic ensemble. Miss Mnry Ward, who attended as bridesmaid, wore a pretty frock of cyclamen crepe de chine, with embroidered apron front, a small hat of a darker shade, trimmed with gold gnlon and turned up in front, with ribbon ornament shading from mauve to cyclamen, silver grey silk stockings, and mauve and silver brocaded shoes. Her bouquet was composed of mauve and pink asters, which blended with the tones of the frock. Mr J. K. Moloney fulfilled the duties of best man. After the ceremony, . Mrs W. T. Ward (Manchester Street) entertained a few intimate friends of the bride at her house. Mrs O’Connell’s travelling dress was of cocoa-coloured fancy repp, with collar and cuffs of natural badger fur. Her small hat .of. cocoa-colourcd satin with sectional crown was becomingly turned up in front, with . Oriental tapestry and a Bizeake ornament.
