WELLINGTON’S DESIRE
FOR NEXT EXHIBITION. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 23. A large deputation, representing the Wellington "Winter Show Association, the Industrial Association and business interests of the city, Waited upon tlie Mayor to ask that a public meeting be called at an early date to place on record Wellington's desire that it should have next turn to hold an international exhibition. Tlie Mayor expressed himself in full agreement with the suggestion, but indicated that in his opinion it would lie of little v.tiuo to set up a working committee at the present moment, with the exhibition several years still ahead. 'Die fixing of the date, he remarked, was not altogether in tlie hands of Wellington; outside events had (c lie. considered ns prime factors in that regard. Enthusiasm had been fired by Dunedin s success, and they had been talking of an exhibition in five years’ time. Tlie Mayor hinted that Wellington's centennial in 1940 would be a suitable occassion. He also pointed out that Dunedin had been fortunate in following "Wembley and well organised exhibit;-, , were on hand ready to send out.
