Mr R. A. Brooks came to Timaru from Christchurch yesterday. The Hon. W. Nosworthy. Minister of Finance, passed through Timani yesterday morning on his way to Dunedin. Sir George Fenwick passed through Timaru yesterday oil his way to Dunedin, after spending a few days m Christchurch. ~ Mr and Mrs T. C. Coull and Miss Coull (Dunedin), motored to Timaru yesterday and went on to tile Hetmitage. A London cable message announces that Sir Janies Allen is sailing for New Zealand ill August. Many farewell tributes are being arranged. Colonel Thoms, Chief Staff Officer, and Captain Stedman, Chief Musketry Instructor (Southern Command), paid a visit of inspection to Timaru, yesterday. They will return to Christchurch to-day. Mr R. Malcolm, who has been headmaster of the Temuka District High School tor the past, three years, has been appointed headmaster of ( the Terrace Road School. Palmerston North. At last night's annual meeting of the Old Boys’ Football Club, a motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of tlie late Dr. Cl. E. Gabites, and Mr .J. Pearson, -who were members of the Club.
