Conceding long handi- | caps, ho had to run the race virtually unpaced, otherwise he would certainly have broken the record. Rose did not appear in the mile lace. ROSE’S'TOUR. Rose’s tour abroad .net with a satisfactory response at the championship meeting last week, and about £SO was subscribed. . The Otago Centre is communicating with various sport bodies in Otago, appealing for assistance for the fund. / Y.M.C.A. CLUB. A meeting of the committee of tlio Y.M.C.A. Amateur Athletic Club was held last evening. Jt was decided that no further sports meetings would be held this season, but that members be asked to do their best i to support the amateur events at AVaimate on Easter Saturday. It was decided to finish up the sea- ] son with a general meeting on Thursday A. McArthur was declared the winner of the AVallace Cup, with E. A. Leo runner-up. It was decided that the Mayor he requested to present the Cup on Thursday evening..
