BRIAND BACK FROM GENEVA.
Confidently Faces Chamber OFFICIAL STATEMENT ISSUED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received Alarch 19, 7.5 p.m.) PARIS, Alarch 18. M. Briand returned from Geneva and met the Chamber. A Alinisterial statement of the new Government’s policy, read to both Houses, declared that the Government was anxious to finally settle the interAllied indebtedness, and would punsue the negotiations, which are at present in a promising condition. The Government would strive to end tho antagonism in Europe, as was done at Geneva within the framework of the League of Nations. The fact that Germany’s entry into the League had been adjourned, was not the fault of the Locarno signatories. France’s political problems, aided the statement, still awaited solution. The Government was in duty bound to secure a completely and unequivocally balanced Budget. The Government demanded a prompt vote on a Bill restoring single member constituencies. Its paramount -aim was achievement. The country had suffered discord and crisis too long, and now wanted to feel itself governed.
