A tally is being taken of vehicular traffic passing over the Parcora bridge on the main south road.

A dull dark day yesterday was followed by a sudden change iast night, when a strong cold wind sprang up from the south.

At the meoting of the Executive of the Farmers’ Union in Timaru yesterday, Mr J. Bitchener, M.P., mentioned that lie favoured a petrol, in preference to a car tax; and he expressed the opinion that there would be amended legislation in regard to this matter next session.

Mr Bitchener added that the result of this was that Southland lambs were being railed to South Canterbury to be killed, and through doing this the growers received an additional 3s per carcase. Mr S. H. Midgeley: “And Southland lamb goes away as prime Canterbury.”
