Paparoa Abandoned At Sea CREW AND PASSENGERS SAFE. By Cable —Press Association —Copyrieht. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received March 19, 1 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 18. A serious fire broke out on the steamer Paparoa about 500 miles from Capetown. The Paparoa was bound for Australia from the United Kingdom, and was due to call hero for bunkers. The Australian liners Barrabool, Diogenes ami Aeancas all responded 1o the call for help. Late at night all the Paparoa’s passengers and 24 of the crew were transferred to the Barrabool, the remainder of the crew standing by. Finally tho Paparoa was abandoned at eleven o'clock at night. The crew and passengers are due at Capetown on Friday aboard tho Barrabool. "*
