EX-JUDGE COOPER,

ELTHAM, May 18

Tho Hon. Sir TRebphilUS Cooper, exJudge of the Supremo Court, passed away this .afternoon, aetat 75 years, at the residence of his son, Dr. H. A. Cooper, Eltham. The late Sir Them Cdoper had been in failing health for some time, but his final illness . was short-. Ho will be interred at Hamilton on Thursday afternoon. MR. ROBERT STEVENSON Mr Robert Stevenson, whoso funeral took place in Titnaru yesterday, died very suddenly from heart failure on last. Friday night. He had been lii indifferent health for some time, blit had been to town as Usual, on Friday, and there were no indications, when he retired to bed, that night that the end would come suddenly, as it aid shortly afterwards.

The lata Mr Stevenson was born near Lake Te Ahau, where his father wtis a station manager. He was educated at th'ci Oaiiiaru Grammar school, and subsequently engaged in agricultural anil pastoral pursuits both in this and the North Island. Prior to coming to Tirnaru about twenty years ago he had a farm of his own at Henley. Jn Tirnaru owing to the state of his health Mr Stevenson could only engage in light work, and for a good many years he was chief salesman for linrie and Higgins, property salesmen. A good business man, lie achieved success in this particular line, onrl being a man of high integrity, all with whom he dealt found 1 it a pleasure to do business with him. Mr Stevenson did not taken part in public affairs, but ho always evinced a keen interest in them : and possessed, as he was. of a well stored mind, and a big fund of common sense, he made many friends, all of whom will be deeply grieved to learn of bis .death at the comparatively early age of 59 vears. Mr Stevenson is survived bv Mrs Stevensen and a grownup family of six children. The eldest son being Mr -T. W. Steven?son, auctioneer for tlie North Otago Farmers’ Cooperative Association, Oanwu.
