DISTRICT NURSE
ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of the Mary : Raymond District Nurse Committee ; was held in the Borough Council . Chambers yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Mrs F. A. Raymond, president (in the chair), Mesdames Stinson, Snedden, Misses Priest, Pringle, and Palleson, Sister Adams and the Hon. Secretary (Miss B. Fussell). The resignation of Mrs C. A. Paterson as vice-president was received with regret, and Miss Priest Was appointed to the position. The annual report stated that the Committee had had another very successful year, a great deal of in- ■ terest in the work being taken by the l general public. During the year the | committee had an opportunity of ! securing a coupe car in exchange for j the car that had been in use for ■ nearly two years. The car committee unanimously decided to accept the offer, which was a very satisfactory one. Mr Cleland was able to secure the use of a garage near Beverley gates, which was proving a ! great convenience to Sister Adams. | Sister Adams was kept fully occupied, and her duties were carried out in a most efficient manner and the district was extremely fortunate in having such a zealous nurse. In May of last year, the Rev. Mr Potts, who was then chairman, proposed that the committee he composed of women only. Tnis was carried, and a vote of thanks was accorded to the men who had acted on the old committee. It was considered advisable to have a car committee of men, to relieve the responsibility of the car. The Rev. Potts, Father Hurley and Mr Cleland were appointed, and had given most valuable assistance. The vacancies on the committee were filled by Mesdames Mason and Simpson and Misses Pringle and Palleson, and later in the year the Labour Party apoinpted Mrs Sneddon as their representative. All the committee had taken a great interest in the work, and the monthly meetings had been well attended. For the past twelve months Sister Adams had paid 3,527 visits to 426 patients in their homes. At the beginning of the year Sister Adams had her annual six weeks holiday, and Miss O’Sullivan, a fully qualified nurse, carried on most satisfactorily. Throughout the year donations had been received, and last August the usual successful street appeal and collection was made. Donations amounted to £143 3s 3d, and street appeal and-sales £l2O 10s 9d, making a total of £264 14s. The report was adopted. The annual balance sheet, which showed a credit of £2OO 19s 2d, was ■considered very satisfactory, and wgs adopted. It was hoped to carry on with the funds in hand until the' annual street appeal on the last Friday in August.
The same committee as last year was elected for a further term of office, with the exception of Mrs C. A. Paterson, who had resigned. Aliss Roche donated £5 to the funds, for which she w-as accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
