UJrich. • Air (jirich said tho offence was a serious one, as the sanctuar.es must not bo violated Defendant had undoubtedly gone to Lake Alexaiidrina for the purpose of shooting game, 'the Society’s ranger (Air J. S. Alain) had visited the sanctuary on Alay 11th and had seen a man, who later proved to bo defendant, crouching in the nigger heads at the side of tho lake. He was with another man, and had apparently been out in a boat, for in the boiv of the one at the water's edge were two empty shells. J. S. Alain, ranger, said he had seen defendant coining off the sanctuary. He had approached him and asked what ho was doing. Defendant replied that he was shooting rabbits, and had not shot at any birds. When ho looked in the boat there were two empty cases in the bow. He had not hoard any shooting, but first noticed defendant in the nigger heads at the siue of the lake. Defendant had told him that ho ) did not know Lake Alexandria a was a game sanctuary. How ho could have failed to see the notice boards witness did not know. His 'Worship said the fact of tho ianger.finding the empty shells was against defendant. It went to prove tlmt he had been out in tho boat. Defendant was. convicted and fined £3 and costs and ordered to pnv-solicitor’s fees.
