The death is announced of Mm Baldwin, mother of the Prihie Minister. • WILLIAM HUSBAND, There passed away at Christchurch on 10th inst. ,a very old one-time resident of Timaru in tne - person of this dateMr Husband. In company with; Jiiswife and one child, ho' arrived', at. 'Lyttelton in the sailing ship itangitikui about 1874, and settled in Tiiriaru, where he laboured in the building of the then small township, for many years. He carried on a building bust- - ness known as Win. Husband and Son, anti many buildings were erected by them, including the fine buildings know as Hay’s Building, chancel; of St. Mary’s church, and the first portions of the Timaru Hospital. Before his death he lived in quiet retirement for several’ years at lus residence ' iri Sprevdon. He is survived by, Ilia widow and growli-up family of seven—Mrs Rawson (Auckland), Mrs Alex Templeton, and Messrs iti, R. Husband and C. G. Husband (Christchurch L and Mr A. A. Husband (Ashburton), Mr W. Husband (Wellington), and T; T. Husband (Timaru). lie took "part in the affairs of the toWn, being a prominent member of the Volunteers; and president of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners,; and also an active member of St, -Mary’s Church congregation.
