PARIS, May 15,
France is negotiating with Spain regarding combined operations against tV» Riffs, who are rotreating towards the Spanish zone. French aeroplanes, carrying bilge bombs manufactured at the close of the war and not-used owing to the armistice, caused dismay. There were 500 casualties.

Reuter’s * Rabat Correspondent reports that at dawn yesterday French columns, under Generals Coiombat and Freydenburg, supported by many aeroplanes and’ artillery, dislodged -the ii-ifis after stubborn resistance from fortified positions on the Biban range. Retreating northwards they were plastered by French aviators. Their losses were severe.
The withdrawal .was general by noon. The French relieved several ■ posts, using the bayonet.
