IMPERIAL CABINET’S DIFFERENCE OF OPINION.

The “Daily Chronicle” states that persistent rumours are current in London and Paris that Mr Austen Chamberlain, who is more strongly proFrench than his colleagues, is likely to resign the Foreign Secretaryship owing to continued divergencies of opinion in the Cabinet, dating back to the proposed military pact guaranteeing the French eastern frontier which it understood Mr Chamberlain favoured, but to which Cabinet w-an opposed. Lord Birkenhead will most probably be his successor at the Foreign Office.
