Lord Milner. A cable message received from London, under date May 12, savs: —A bulletin states that Lord Milner is not quite so well this morning. A later message from London announces that the latest bulletin states that Lord Milner’s condition gives rise to grave anxiety. Earl Jellicoe. A London cable message announces that Ear! Jellicoe ' lias accepted the chairmanship of the Overseas Settlement Council. Mr J. E. Pigott returned to Timaru from the North Island yesterday. The death is announced in Paris of General Mangin, tho great French soldier. Mr D. Flynn, of Auckland, past district president of the Hibernian Society of New Zealand, arrived from Dunedin by yesterday’s express. The Hon. J. A. Hanan (Dunedin!,. Mr F. J. Rolleston, M.P. (Timaru), Mr J. Bitchencr, M.P. (Waitaki), Mr T D. .Burnett, M.P. (Temulci), Councillor T. W. Sattertlnvaite (Timaru), Mr J. R. Hamilton (Winton), and .Mr Adam Hamilton (Invercargill) were passengers by yesterday’s second express on their way to to pttend the funeral of tho late. Prime Minister to-day.
Mr James Metson, 8.A., formerly of Temuka, who has been appointed director of tho Technical High School at Westport, has boon for the past eight years .and a-lialf assistant on the staff of the Wanganui Technical College, and head of tho general department. The fine record which the college holds in matriculation and other public examinations lips been in no small measure due to Ins teaching ability. He has also been sports master for the whole of his timo in Wanganui, ami officer in command of tho Technical College Cadets.
