N.Z. RUGBY UNION. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 13. The New Zealand Rugby Executive adopted a resolution placing on record its recognition and appreciation of the lifework of Mr Massey and its deep sense of the loss to New Zealand and the Empire by his death. Mr.'S. S. Dean paid a tribute to Mr Massey’s interest in and help given to the All Blacks .during their tOUL abroad. The Executive received a protest from Hawkes Bay against the proposed tour of a Maori team in New Zealand, on tjie ground of undue interference with Hawkes Bay representative fixtures. It was stated that a Maori team might enlist six prominent Hawkes Bay players. It was decided to inform the Maori Advisory Board that the Union is of opinion that a tour should not take place this year owing to the large programme of international, provincial and club fixtures. “I’m extremely disappointed,” remarked Mr Dean, after reading a letter from the English Rugby Union stating it . was undesirable that an Imperial Advisory Board should be formed, and suggesting instead that an Imperial Rugby Conference be held at least every three years in London. Mr Dean remarked that such conferences would be as abortive as rlie last one. Mr E. McKenzie, Wairarapa, was appointed to manage the New Zealand team in Australia next month. It was decided to invite France to send a team for twenty-five matches in 1926.
