WHY BUY EGGS? A tablespoon of powdered gelatine equals three eggs. Dissolve the gelatino in a littlei cold water, then add enough boiling water to make a cupful. Beat well with egg beater and add to tho rest of ingredients. HOME-MADE SOAP Three pounds of lime, 61b washing soda, lib resin, 71b fat, 3 tablespoons of borax, 12 quarts of water. Boil the water, lime and soda for one hour. Let tho mixture stand all night Strain off in the morning. Add the other ingredients and boil for three hours; stir constantly. Pour into a mould, and, when cold, cut into bars and store. GOOD JUMPER HINT To make a knitted garment try this: As you unpick it make the wool into skeins by winding round tho backs of two chairs placed side, by side. Then tie securely in three places. Wash in borax and soft soap mixtures. Itinse thoroughly and hang on the line to dry. You will find the wool fluff , up like new and all signs of previous use gone. THE DUST BIN Special caro is needed to prevent flies surrounding the garbage tin. When the tin has been emptied burn newspaper in it. This deodorises and kills any germs there may be lurking around, besides drying and strengthening tho bin. When it is full again, place a newspaper saturated in kerosene over the top, then nut the lid oil. No flies or germs attack a garbago tin treated this wav. KEEP FRYING PAN CLEAN The odour of onion and fish can bo removed from a frying pan this way. Scald a little vinegar in it, and afterwards wash in- the usual way. This is especially essential when omelets are mado in a frying pan used for other purposes. So delicate is the omelet flavour that it should havei a pan used for no other purposes. MAKE CORKS FTT.

To make a cork, slightly too large, fit ,a bottle, try this. Take a sharp knife, cut a wedge-shaned piece out of one end of the cork. Then cut another similar piece, out of the same end arrows the centre of the first cut. If this is carefully done, the cork can then ho inserted and no liquid will escape. USE VINEGAR FOR STOVE Before black leading the stove., do this. Wipe stove all over with vinegar and let dry. It will remove all greaso Etains, and will give a nice bright polish when black leaded.
