CHRISTCHURCH MID-WEEK

REPORT,

i By Telegraph-—Tress Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. The gram and prouuce market is dull, almost to the point of iifeJessness. Apart from such bread and butter lines as wheat and potatoes, only odd brandies of produce arc attracting attention.

Wheat is coming in freely at the arranged prices, ana some ot the millers are understood to have their storage space well occupied. Other members of the trade, however, are still purchasing freely. The only new feature about the wheat offering is that undergrade stuff is not being accepted by millers. Oats are inclined to be easier. Forward A grades are quoted at 3s 6£d and B grade at 3s 2d. Business, however, is practically at a- standstill. Potatoes are holding the preceding values with difficulty; f.0.b., s.i. prices are £4 15s ton for May and £5 12s 6d for July-August delivery. Nominal quotations are £3 5s on trucks, but farmers are not seriously considering this price. Heavy quantities are now going north, which is the explanation of the easing. The Kawatiri yesterday took 3400 sacks, and the.Wingatui today is taking another fair-sized cargo, in addition to a substantial allotment from Timaru. There is no change of any sort in quotations for seeds STOCK EXCHANGE. By Telfgrasn—Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 12.
