The annual meeting of the Geraldine Plunket Society will be held in tho P, apish Hall this afternoon, when opportunity will bo taken to make a presentation to Nurse Cameron. It is hoped to see a good attendance ot parents and friends.

The Timaru School Committees Association have organised a memorial service as a token of respect to the memory of the late Hon. W. F. Massey. The service is to take place (weather permitting) at the Timaru Main School ground on Thursday afternoon, at 2.30. Members of the Ministers’ Association will take part in tho service, and an■■ address, in eulogy of the late Prime Minister, will bo given by Mr W. Thomas M.A. Tho public are invited to attend. If the weather is unsuitable, the service will bo held in the Theatre Royal, which has been placed at the Association’s disposal.

The local Y.M.C.A. to-day will entertain one of their distinguished leaders, in the person of Mr H. N. Holmes, 0.8.E.,~F.R.G.5. Mr Holmes lias travelled very extensively, and has gained an international reputation as a lecturer. He lias had a splendid reception in Wellington and. Dunedin, and to-night he is to give an illustrated lecture in tho Wesley Hall at 8 o clock. Tho subject will be “Tho Grand Canyon of Arizona,” .and the lecture will be illustrated by a beautifully coloured set of 135 slides, described by tho Director. of Education of New Zealand as being one of the finest sets ho has seen. JLhis lecture was recently given m the City Temple, London, to a crowded gathering of 2000, and at the conclusion the Rev F W. Norwood said it was the finest and most fascinating lantern lecture he had ever attended; Mr. Holmes is travelling as the guest ot the Y.M.C.A., and no charge will be made for admission to his lecture, but a collection will bo taken up to meet local expenses.
