Mr Mackay came down from Ohinemuri yesterilay, with a number of natives. ' Sir D. McLean is expected down to-day. Major Cooper has telegraphed to have a church parade of Volunteers on Sunday, previous to which Sir D. McLean will inspect the force. A meeting of the members of the Waiotalii Highway Board was held yesterday. PresentMr Howe (in the chair), Messrs Hill, Porter Brodie, Coutts, A letter was rea'l from the engineer (Mr McFariand) in reference to the \\aiotahi road, in which he stated that lie could not gland a certificate, as there was not metal on the road according to specification. The contractors were in attendance, and explained that the metal was measured in heaps, and some must have been lost in the spreading, It was decided that Messrs llowe, Porter, and Hill should accompany the engineer and the contractors to-morrow, at three o'clock, for the purpose of coming to an arrangement, and taking over the road.
The. cutter 'Otabuhu' Las just made, a very quick run to Coromande' and hack. McCullough, of Grahamstown, had accepted the position of Deputy Provincial ' Grand Master of the Scottish Constitution for New Zealand.
