THE IMPERTINENT CONVENER.

To the Editor of the Thames Advertiser. Sib,—A correspondent of your contemporary seems to think it impertinence that I should call a meeting of the members of the School Committees of the district. Wherein is the impertinence? Is is because I am not a Government officer with £800 a-year for doing nothing, or that I have not a country residence at Parawai, and have not the pleasure of being an familiar terms with Te Hira, and have not written ,a dreary account of a trip to Maungatautari P Or is it because I am not seeking the appointment of warden at Ohinemuri, for which, however, t am a great deal better fitted than he is? And now for "member No. 2," who is identical with the individual above referred to.. He cau stay away, as his room would be as welcome to me as his company. To more reasonable persons than the above, 1' would explain that I called the. meeting at the request of several members of committees, when I heard of the proposal to amalgamate the districts. That has now boen done, but: there are several other matters of impor« tance to the whole district which I thought ought to be considered, so that I still hope to see all the members of committees present except the scribbler in the Stai'.—l am. &c., A. Fobteb.
