POLICE COURT.—Yesterday.

(Before Dr. KILGODK, Esq., J. P., andE. W. PuCKEr. Esq., J.P., Drunkenness.—Stephen Farelly was charged wiili having been drunk and incapable in Brown-street, Grahamstown. —Mr Bullen said lhat lie brought the defendant up under the Municipal Police Act, which provided that when a man was convicted three times within three months he was liable to be fined and imprisoned for 1 days. Defendant was fined 20s and costs, and 7 days' imprisonment.—fhomasGlenn, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was fined 20s, and costs, or 48 hours' imprison ment. Obscene Language.—William Wilkinson, an old offender, the record of whose convictions is longer than that of any other at the' Thames, was again brought before the Court. On this occasion he was charged with making use of obscenc language in a public place, to wit, Brownstreet, Grahamstown, on the stl) inst. Defendant pleaded guilty,—Mr Bullen said that the language complained of was very bad. There wore 16 previous convictions against him, and he could not recommend that defendant's appeal to the bench should be taken into consideration. The language made use of was very dis gusting, and was used in a crowded thoroughfare. The bench inflicted a fine of £5 and costs, or, in default, one month's imprisonment.
