To the Editor of the Thames Advertiser.: ifiß,—ln your issue of to-day a wellwisher of the above society asks, " Was the collection made in the Presbyterian'" Church, in aid of the Ladies' Benevolent • Society, on the 30th November, 1873; a J Churoh or Masonic collection ?" . la' answer to the above, I may state it was not a Church collection, but a collection made at a special sprvice, on the abovedate, under the auspices of -the Sir Walter Scott Lodge, at .which service the officers of that lodge collected the money and retained the same in their ; possession, consequently the Church officers had nothing to do with it. Further than that, they give the use of the Church on the occasion.—l am, &c. ( James Fbbguson, Treasurer P.O.
