LADIES' BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
To the Editor of the Thames Advertiser. ■■■.-, Sin,—Being present at the late anniversary of the above society, after the ; treasurer's report being read, Mr Wilkinson made a statement to the effect that ; he was requested to state that a collection made in the Presbyterian Church in aid of the society's funds twelve months since, amounting to some nine or ten pound s, had not yet been paid to its credit. I would like to know what that means. " Was it a church or was*it a collection made at the special service of., the Masons? If made for the Ladies' Benevolent Society why was it not paid: to, their treasurer, and who holds the' money P If such a collection was not made,' by whose authority was snoh a statement made, aa previously referred toP Some gross negligence appears to have been committed by some one, for we were informed that the ladies were to curtail their expenditure, and yet some £9 or £10 was somewhere, which they ; should have had. This being a publio, institution, and that statement being] made publicly, I trust the matter will be \ satisfactorily explained through the medium of your columns.—l am, &c, A Wem-wisheb to the Society. ; "
