(Per Anglo-Australian Telegraph Press Agency.) Dunedin, Tuesday, 7,55 p.m. , A deputation from the Harbour Board waited on Mr Eeynolds to-day, re the delegation of powers by the Governor. Mr Reynolds said there was no objection on the part of the Government to delegate to a Board similar powers to those given to the .Auckland Board, immediately the Superintendent delegated the power lie possessed.—The Licensing Bench to-day refused the majority of applications for publicans' licenses. Mr Bathgate, as Chairman, remarked on the absurdity of previous courses-first refusing, and then, after the same applicant had persistently applied for renowal, granting it simply through perseverance. He said, to prevent that, the Bench would adopt a totally different policy, and refuse, unless under very strong circumstances, to grant a license, once refused, to any one. If once refused for a breach they need never apply for another licence. —4t Lawrence,the concrete roof of the colonnade of the now Court-house fell in this morning with a great crash. The damage is extensive, and the loss will fall on the contractor.

She encountered a heavy cyclone in latitude 18.42 south, longitude 169 34 east, during which she lost her topsail, sprung mizzen boom, and was strained a little, amidships. On Saturday last spoke the ship ' Howrab,' from London to Wellington, with immigrants, then 50 miles north of Banks' Peninsula. Despite the placing of the whole of the 'Auckland's' shipment of immigrants, the demand for labour is not abated a ! bit, and work promises to be constant during the season. Wages are firm.— The principal cases set down for trial before the District Court on Wednesday are: Hutchinson's claim of £200 for injuries to a spritsail by.the railway; Carrick v. Pyke, a claim for a half-share in the Southern Mercury.—Good accounts come from the Sons of Fortune claim at Arrow, which turns out gold at the rate of £30 per week a man. — The Rule of Britain claim have struck rich wash-dirt in the new drive.— There was considerable excitement at Queenstown re the dispute between the hospital authorities and the Magistrate. A publican named Feehey was sentenced at Arrowtown to three months' imprisonment for habitual drunkenness. Dr Douglass, the hospital surgeon, considered him unfit to travel to Dunedin, and directed him to be taken to the hospital The Magistrate refused to sanction this, but. the Inspector of Police complied with the doctor's request, and the man is now in the hospital. The case has gone to higher authorities.—The steamer' Maori' commences a service between Dunedin and Martin's Bay the first week in December.—The Bank of New South Wales has raised gold to £3 16s.
