It is stated upon good authority that the following redistribution of judges will be made after the conclusion of the Court of Appeal: —Judge Arney to remain at Wellington; Judge Johnstone to go to Dunedin or Auckland; Judges Eicbinond and Gresson to remain as at present. Judge Chapman is expected to retire. The Chief Justice, Sir George Arney, goes home to England in February next, when Mr Prendergast, Attorney-General, will succeed hini — \. Gazette notice proclaims Monday, the Priiice of Wales' Birthday, a public holiday, with the exception of the Post-office, Telegraph, Customs, an-1 Eailways Departments.— The Hon. Mr Eeynolds, during his visit to the North, has arranged for completing telegraph communication in Taranaki between Opunake and Stoney Kiver. He has also succeeded in removing the native opposition to the erection of a lighthouse on Cape Rgraont, and tenders will soon be called for its erection. Napieh, Thursday, 7.5 p.m. A Court of Inquiry, under the Merchants Shipping Act, acquitted Captain Veal, of the ' Rosalie,' of the charges of habitual drunkenness, but were of opinion that he had been intoxicated occasionally on the voyage. He held direct communications, by telegraph, with the observation party at Burnham, and comparisons were instituted.
