CORRESPONDENCE.

THE PEINCE OF WALES' BIETHDAY. To tho Editor of the Thames Advertiser. ' Sib, —It has been tho custom for the last few years to celebrate the Prince of Wales' Birthday by a field day, but I observe there has' been ho orders given by the major commanding this district or any other preparation. It seems rather odd, there being several good compaaies here, that our major should not take advantage of the opportunity afforded to him by the holiday next Monday to have the Volunteers out and put them through some field evolutions, which the Volunteers of this district are iu great need of. In fact, any out-door or battalion drill would give more confidence and assist the officers and men to go through their drill with greater precision. When Major Gordon 1 ' inspected the Volun&ers here he was rafher harsh with some of the corps, and I must submit that the Volunteers are not so much to blame as the head of the staff department, who seems lately to have considered this place of quite secondary importance to the Waiknto.— Yours, &C, A VOLTWTEE 8.
