AN EXPLICATION.
To tlio Editor of the THAMES ADVERTISER. Sir,— The maimer you report my remarks at the inquest yesterday has led to the conclusion that I particularly referred to bad liquors sold by Mr Gillan. This I distinctly deny, my only object being to point out the ill effects of rum, over other spirits. The rum at Mr Gillan's is, I suppose, no worse than at other places. The troops, during the war used to call rum "fixed bayonets," from its fatal effects. But aa Dr. tetkbridge so distinctly laid down the cause of death in this instance, there could be no doubt in the minds of the jury, except that the decease was accelerated by drinking spirits.—l am, &c, Thos. Waste Gudgeon.
