WHABF ACCOMMODATION.

To the Editor of the THAMES AOTESTISER.; .^ Sib, -Will you kindly give me space for the following proposition; which I made to Mr Sheehan oa his last visit to this place, viz.:—That I would give him, within two weeks' time, 8 feet 6 inches of water at the end of the present Goods Wharf for the sum of £1,000, and that I would keep it at that depth for whatever term he liked for the sum of £100 per year. Now, sir, the experiment will cost the Government nothing. All I ask is that when I carry out my proposition I will get the sum I ask. The Government, is about to spend £4,000 bu temporary' works (I saw temporary), for in less than two years the new extension will be useless, as the beach will still-be filling in. My plan will not only give 8 feet of' water at once, but. keep it at that, and prevent the beach from filling'in.- Mr Sheehan promised me faithfully that, he would lay it before the Super*; intendent at once when he' got- tb r Auckland, and that; J should; have an answer not later than the following Mon« day, 27th September. I have not received any reply whatever, and, as the matter is of so muoh'importance, to; the public, I am surprised that neither .tho Superintendent nor Mr Sheehan has taken any notice of it. I might also state that for the sum they are about to spend on the extension of tho Goods Wharf I will do.whatl propose, and also bring the Upper Thames JKiver into the kauwaeranga Creek. I need not .tell you, sir, what advantage this'would be to the community at large.—lam. &o-»t ■ ■;. GKosGB;P'ROTQroNvs;. Qr*hanvuowtJ, Uot. 19^;,;- v ■i&;-.
