CORRESPONDENCE.
THE HOSPITAL INQUIRY. To tlio Editor of tho THAMES ADVERTISER. Sis, —Permit me to request that you will publish the enclosed letter, which will be forwarded forthwith to the General Committee of Management of the Thames Hospital. My reason far thus asking you to publish it is, that thjo report contained in your issue of this morning is of a character such as is calculated to injure the reputation of myself, and others under my control, in the estimation of the public; and as I have no hesitation in saying that the said report has been arrived at as much by suppression of what is true, as by suggestion of what is false, I would uot only injustice to myself but to the others I have alluded to, request the public to suspend their judgment until those persons who now complain of the way in which their testimony has been distorted, have had an opportunity of correcting that evidence, aud those against whom charges havo been brought have had au opportunity of refuting them.—l have, &c, CHAIUES F. liETHBEIDGE. Thames, September 3. To the Genfhaii Committee of Manage. MENT OF THE TfIAMKS H.O3PITAL. G-kntlejien,—Having r-'ad tho repirt of the sub-committee appointed to inquire into I he case of Mr Maurice Power, presented to you on Wednesday last, and published iu'thoTHiitßJ Advertiser of to-day, we fool it neoessary to request
you to afford us an opportunity of correcting the evidence attributed to us and others in that report, We have no hesitation in stating, from what we know, and from what we have heard, that the evidence as set forth in that report is both incorrect, incomplete, and calculated to convey false and erroneous impressions; and moreover, that tho report does not produce material evidence given before tho sub-committee pointing to conclusions contrary to some of those contained in the report. We also desire to slate that we are of opinion that the inquiry leading to tho report was not'conducted in a"* manner p>t and fair to the officers of tin- Hospital, inasmuch as a person not a member of the sub-committee, was permitted to eonduct a quasi - prosecution, on serious charges, against the officers, without them or any of them being informed of thoao charges, or being permitted to be present during the inquiry to defend themselves, although one principally concerned had applied for sucli permission. We, therefore, respectfully request you to inquire into the several charges embodied in that report, and afford us, or auy of us, concerned in them an opportunity of being present at such inquiry, and adducing such evidence, in answer, as we may desire.—We have, &c, James Kilgoub, M.D.; Mautijt H. Payne, L.R.0.P., M.H.0.5., membars of the honorary staff. Oitaeles F. Lethb ridge, resident aurgeon; T. Aitkek, dispenser; H. U'Connell, John Smith, Wardsmen.
