Buchanan, manager of the Bank of Australasia here, died suddenly to-day.—The remainder of the immigrants per ship 'Conflict 1 were landed to-day.—Mr J. S. Macfarlane, of Auckland, is in town to dispute the election of Von der Heyde, who, it appears, was naturalised only in South Australia. Napier, Wednesday. A smart shock of earthquake occurred at four o'clock on Monday morning. Lyttelton, Wednesday. The s.s.' Beautiful Star,' whilst towing the ' Ballochmyle,' parted her warping towline, and the warp, strking Captain Hart, broke both his legs, and it is feared amputation of one limb may be necessary. Poet Chalmers, Wednesday. Arrived: The barque 'Comet,' from Auckland.—A seal ten feet long was caught at the Heads to-day. Bluff, Wednesday, 7 p.m. The wreck of the brig ' Carl' was bought by Mr Broderick for £60, and the sails, boats, and other gear for £130.
