MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.
Nonpaeeiii Gr.M.C.—The annual general meeting of shareholders of the Nonpareil Gr.M.O. (registered) was held yesterday at the Mechanics' Institute. Mr W. H. Crick was called to the chair. The directors' report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the three retiring directors were re-elected. We subjoin art extract from the directors' report "Duringthe first half of the year the qold obtained from 6SO tons of quartz amounted to 4040zs lSdwta, which pro.duced £1,106 Is sd; this operation left the company minus to tho extent of £89, and until the last call of one shilling on the now paid-up capital of the company was tnado the directors thought advisable to suspend for a time operations at the mine- During the second half of the year work at the mine has necessarily been limited pending the increase of the. capital of the company by the issue of 5,700 new shares, a considerable number of which shares remain unallotted. As soon as possible the shares unallotted will be offored by auction in terms of tho resolution passed at the extraordinary meeting of shareholders, which authorised the increase of the company s capital. £59 Gs 8d is the sum at present at tho company's credit. The works at tho mine are confined meantime to tho locality of the first great find of gold on tho adit level in the hope of finding gold through tlie slide, and if possible to save calls on the shareholders. As soon as there are funds the sinking of the main shaft will be continuod, with a view to explore the mine at greater depth than previously, when it is hoped i hat such will bo rewarded with success. arc iiiform«il that negotiations tor the amalgamation ol the Waitouiata unfortunately f<iilod through want of support from the minority of the shareholders whose adhesion was indispensible. The rotiring directors, are Samuel Browning, John Earnest Hansen, and tiobert Turbit Douglas, but who are eligible for re-election."
