PUNIWHAKAU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 15. Our long spoil of fine weather has broken up at last, though as we have such heavy dews tho vegetation does not suffer from want of rain. Two or three morevfino days would see metalling contract completed. Evidently the settlers hero, believe the adage, “Home-keeping folks have over homely wits.” Several of them have taken holidays since Christmas, and now others arc doing likewise. Mr. and Mrs. Watchorn and four children have gone to Auckland for a month’s holiday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Kirkham have gone to Foilding for the same length of time, and I hear that very shortly Mr. and Mrs. T. Gedgo arc off to Christchurch on pleasure bent. Mushrooms have been very plentiful in this district of late. A Air, Thomas has boon appointed to tho local school. '
