THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY.
ADMIRAL HENDERSON’S VIEWS. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright LONDON, April 20. Reuter interviewed Admiral Henderson, who has just returned from Australia, whore he spent some months in preparing a report on naval defence. Tho Admiral said ho was much impressed with tho intense loyalty existing in Australia. Tho basis of the naval scheme was tho belief that an enemy threatening any part of the Empire was Australia’s enemy, and tho immense and paramount necessity of an Australian ■navy supporting the rest of tho Empire naval forces. Tho defence of Australian coasts and shipping was only a secondary object, and in war time it was essential to place the fleet under tho Admiralty.
