Replying to a deputation from women’s societies protesting against tho proposed order by the Homo Office, to permit dressmakers to extend their hours in May and June in view of the Coronation, Mr. Mastorman, Undersecretary to the Home Office, stated that the Queen had made special arrangements to prevent overtime being necessary in the making of her dresses. Mr. Mastorman wished that everyone would he similarly considerate, and promised to reconsider the order.
